Artist Project II: Girl with the pearl earring.

For the artist project I chose "Girl with the pearl earring" movie. I chose it because I saw it before and because I like Scarlett Johansson. The movie is talking about a young beautiful maid called Griet, she works at a famous artist house called Johannes Varmeer. They fall in love with each other and the artist make her became his assistant. Then Johannes Varmeerasks her to be the model of his painting. The painting is Girl with the pearl earring. This painting is one of the most famous paintings now.  I really enjoy watching this movie. It is full with art and really good story.

The Art Institute of Chicago Reflection

The art institute of Chicago is one of the most famous museums. Since I came to Chicago I always heard good things about it, but I never got the chance to go there. Unfortunately, I was absent in the day my class went there, but I went there two days ago. My experience there was unforgettable. I saw a lot of Van Gogh art works. His work is amazing. There were a whole exhibit for his art works. The museum had an Asian/Himalayan exhibit which was beautiful as well. I also, saw the art work that my classmates discuss in our class last Wednesday. I finally understand why Omar was so amazed by it. It is amazing. I went there alone so I did not discuss anything.

My favorite work.

I love the little details in this art work.

The Art of Norman Lewis

Norman Lewis

This was my second time at Chicago Cultural Center, but this time we went to see Norman Lewis artworks. We saw more than 100 artworks for him. Norman Lewis is the innovator of abstract expressionism. What's so unique about Lewis is that he likes to use powerful live color palette and characteristic style. Since 20th century people appreciated Norman works. Norman faces in his work on the barrier of racism because he is black. Norman is politically-conscious activist.
I was amazed by some of his artwork, specially the three black paintings.

Visit to the National Museum of Mexican Art

National Museum of Mexican Art

Our visit to the National Museum of Mexican Art was really interesting. It was the first time I know about the dead day in Mexico, I learned so much information about the Mexican culture from their art. It is really interesting that they celebrate death. I found this museum unique and different from any  museum I ever visited. There were three exhibits in the museum. there were three exhibits, they have different context and different subject-matter.

In the Mexican Identity exhibit  Journey of the soul. the exhibit was full with emotions and I found it very dark and unique. it shows the Mexican identity and their believes. I was captured by some paintings in this exhibit. such as Day of Offerings.  It is such an interesting culture to learn about.

The second exhibit was my favorite, it is dedicated to the victims of the pulse tragedy in Orlando FL, and to Mr. Alejandro Mondragon, an important sugar skull maker. I think this exhibit has a great purpose, it remind people of some great people or victims who passed away.

The last exhibit is Maquila Blues. This exhibit had a lot of paintings for a Mexican artist called, Oscar Moya. Oscar Moya in 1971 crossed the border. In his painting he shows the same subject he experienced. He shows how he came poor and tired to make his dreams came true in America.

One artwork that coughs my attention is this amazing art work. What I like the most about this art work is that I can see three different pictures in it. Each one is different and unique.I think who ever created it most be very creative and talented. The picture from the side is my favorite. Such an amazing art work. What I noticed is that the colors are similar in each picture. The artist used the primary colors, red, yellow, and blue.
